Program Costs
It is estimated that if the student had to pay for all the expenses of a cultural and academic year in another country it would cost from $8,000 to $10,000 or even more. Therefore, the long-term exchange program should be viewed as a scholarship covering the costs of living and studying abroad for an academic year. Students are generally responsible for covering the costs of:
- Round-trip air fare
- Insurance
- Travel documents such as passports and visas
- Spending money, additional travel, and tour fees
Students will receive a small monthly stipend for approximately eleven months from the sponsoring Rotary club in local currency. The club will also cover the cost of Rotary District processing, although a fee will be charged to the family for other costs associated with other paperwork, orientation, and setting up the long-term exchange.
Room and board for traveling students will be provided by the host family selected by the host club.
